By Chief John Bradford Thomas
August 16, 2008

At 1733, Engine 4(Sparta) and Squad 1 were alerted for a crash with entrapment. With entrapment confirmed, Chief 1 requested Squad 2(Ladysmith) and Wagon 1. E-4 w/2 arrived followed by Sq-1 w/4 to find a single patient laying beside the overturned jeep. The patient, with a severe head injury, had been removed before arrival of emergency personnel. After a quick evaluation of the combative patient, the request was made for AirCare 2. W-1 arrived and set up the LZ. Sq-2 arrived and provided a medic to assist with patient care. After the arrival of Medic 227, Squad 2 was released to handle a second MVA in which E-1 and Sq-2 had been dispatched. The Bowling Green units cleared in just under a hour. AirCare 2 transported to VCU Medical Center.

Units: Wagon 1, Squad 1, Chief 1, Squad 2, Engine 4, Response 4, Tanker 4, Medic 227, Medic 512
