A box truck made a wrong turn, driving over a curb and storm drain, rupturing it's "saddle" fuel tank. Approximately 60 gallons of fuel spilled from the torn tank into the parking lot. Crews contained the remaining leaking fuel and cleaned up the rest with absorbent material. While onscene a second accident occured but neither caused any injuries. Next the Engine and Medic were sent to Rogers Clark Blvd for an accident with injuries. The Medic unit transported one patient. Engine 1 and Medic 5 headed to Tidewater Trail in Port Royal for a crash which had no injuries. The last crash Engine 1 and Wagon 1 headed to the Interstate for two tractor trailers that had collided with one overturned. Engine 2, Wagon 1, Engine 1, Medic 2 and Medic 6 responded. Only one injury was reporterd and #1 units cleared quickly, but the interstate would be backed up for hours. The investigation is being handled by the Virginia State Police. Engine 1 arrived with a pick-up in the woods and a paaenger car in the ditch. No injuires were reported and the road was closed for a short period while the vehicles were removed. The substance was reported to have an "overwhelming" odor and Bowling Green, along with A.P. Hill's HazMat 8 and units from Port Royal responded to investigate. Once crews were able to make entry to the dumpster, it was determined the source was used motor oil and primer. The containers were secured and deemed safe. No one was injured and no damage was reported. Additional information was received that confirmed a patient entrapped. Wagon 1 w/ 5, Engine 8 w/ 4, Squad 2 w/4 and Medic 5 added to the call. Engine 1 arrived with a single vehicle into a tree with one pinned and two patients on the ground. The engine company went to work on stabilization and special called for a recovery vehicle to assist and possibly move the vehicle away from the tree. Medic 1 transported both self extricated patients and Air-Care was called for the third patient. Wagon 1 set up the LZ while E-8 and Sq-2 assisted with the extensive extrication. The entrapped driver was freed from the vehicle and transported by Air-Care. The cause of the incident is under investigation. The medic arrived to find a single vehicle into the woods. There was no patient found at the time. After assisting the Caroline Countty Sherriff's office in finding the victim, units cleared around 0200. The patient later walked out of the woods, the medic unit was requested by the Deputy and the patient was transported to the hospital. The Crew from Squad 1 popped the door of the victim that was trapped. Squad 2 helped tend to patient care and clean up of fluids on the road way. The scene was turned over to State Police. This caused for major flooding in the Sparta area due to it setting on low ground. The Sparta Vol. Fire Department at one time had three and a half feet of water inside the building. The building has been condemned and is currently being gutted. At one point in time 28 roads in Caroline county were shut down, due to the high volume of calls, BGVFD units were sent through out the county to assist where needed. A total of 10 people were rescued from high water on Friday. As of Monday, September 12, there were currently seven secondary roads closed in Caroline County. Squad 1 arrived to find a bus on its roof, multiple patients, and several entrapped inside the bus. Before the Squad's arrival Hanover Battalion Chief 3 arrived and requested the Regional TRT team along with 2 squads from Hanover County due to not knowing how many passengers were trapped. The crew went to work stabilizing the vehicle in order to extricate the trapped passengers. To assist with stabilization the Squad's crew requested the local heavy duty wrecker service. Once the bus was secured, Squad 1 and Hanover crews worked together to remove two patients from the bus. Once the patients were extricated, Squad 1's crew assisted with the recovery efforts of the 4 fatalities. 52 passengers were transported to area hospitals. The residence was less than 10 to 12 feet from the garage and fire had begun to extend into the house through a window that had broken due to the heat. The Wagon's crew made a push between the garage and house in an attempt to save the house from further damage. The crew was able to keep damge to the exterior of the house, but the garage was a total loss. Company 1 was added to the assignment shortly after the initial dispatch due to the nature of the call. Engine 1 arrived on scene and established command with a single SUV on the driver's side in the ditch on the on ramp from 207 to 95. Request was made for the helicopter and Hanover Engine 4 was added to set up the landing zone. Landing zone was set up on the interstate and assitance to shut down 95 was provided by State Police. Upon investigation it was found that one occupant was entrapped in the vehicle between the roof and the drivers seat. Stabilization was made with Rescue 42 telestruts, deployment of a charged hose line and removal of the roof was completed by the crew of Engine 1 with the assistance of the crew from Squad 2. The entraped patient was taken by helicopter to the nearest hospital and another patient was taken by ground to the local trama center.
